Our meeting with American importer Charles Finkel in the 1970s revolutionised the fruit beer segment. Charles convinced us to export our old kriek to the United States by boat. What we had not thought of is that the movement of the waves would reactivate the fermentation process and cause the corks to pop during the trip. It was like something out of The Adventures of Tintin. To prevent that from happening, we therefore developed an alternative production method for our kriek. We use fresh, not from concentrate, unsweetened cherry filtrate which we blend with lambic that is at least one year old before fermenting & macerating for up to 3 days and pasteurising the whole batch. So the corks don't pop.

Optisch dunkelrot und leicht trüb. Die rosefarbene, feinporige Schaumkrone hält mäßig gut. In der Nase vernimmt man sehr ansprechende, fruchtig-herbe Noten von Kirsche bzw. Weichsel und Marzipan. Der Antrunk kommt frisch fruchtig, fruchtig-säuerlich bis zart fruchtig-herb und angenehm feinrezent. Der leichte Körper zeigt sich mit feiner Rezenz, samtiger Textur und leichter Trockenheit. Geschmacklich und aromatisch darf man ein angenehmes Spiel aus Süße, Säure und Herbe erwarten. Saftige Noten von Kirsche/Weichsel, rote Beeren und ein Hauch Marzipan schaffen ein sehr harmonisches, superfruchtiges, regelrecht saftiges Gesamtbild. Da passt alles von hinten bis vorne. Der Nachtrunk gestaltet sich zart süß bis säuerlich-herb, saftig-beerig mit gut anhaltendem, leicht trockenem Finish.
Mein Fazit: der perfekte Begleiter zu dunklen Schokodesserts wie dunkles Schokomousse, Schokopudding, Schokogrießpudding, Schokokuchen, Brownies, etc...

Buying this beer at one monoprix, district 13, Paris, tasting this bottle two days ago, at home with a tasty bourguignonne fondue, sweet, sugar, juice of cherry, fruity, carbonated, hidden malt and weak bitterness, light body.

Red pour. Thin pink head. Tart cherry flavor with cherry palate. Delicious.

Un dedo de espuma rosa, intenso color rubí, y aun más intenso aroma a cerezas y jarabe. Sabor bastante dulce, envuelto en acidez y carbonatación propias del estilo, que no evitan que el conjunto resulte para mi gusto empalagoso, dejando poso de dulzor en lengua. No dudo que es una muy buena muestra del estilo, pero no es mi estilo.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy ruby body with a pink head that fades. Lively carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of glazed cherries, cherry cola and mashed strawberries. Flavour of cherry, tart cranberries and a sweet, moreish finish. A sweet, tangy kriek. So much flavour for the ABV.

Buteleczka. Aromat delikatny, w smaku czuć wiśnię dość naturalnie, nie ma jakiś nieprzyjemnych czy sztucznych odczynów.

Zapach wiśniowy kompot albo zupa wiśniowa ze stajni. Piana różowa średnie pęcherzyki, piwo kolor ciemno czerwone. Smak kwaśne wiśniowe oraz smaki typowe dla lambica, lekki ocet, Średnie nagazowanie trochę ściągające, ciało średnio, duża pijalność. Ogólnie smaczne, trochę taki kompot.
