Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.

Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met een volle bruinige schuimkraag. Het heeft een aroma van gebrande mout en koffie. De smaak is vol gebrande mout, koffie en pure chocolade.

Mmm. Tastes like surviving multiple assassination attempts. Which is apt for being in baltimore right now.

Tastes like a lighter oak aged stout. It's okay.

Bottle via Beer Republic. Med-full body, medium carbonation. Medium sweetness, med-high roasty bitterness, a bit of warmth. ABV hidden pretty well though. Lots of maltiness, cocoa, a bit chocolatey and coffeeish, a nutty hint. Also a bit of dried fruits. Overall a really good balance, rich and tasty. Very good beer.

12oz bottle. Pours black with foamy beige head. Aroma has notes of roasted malts, caramel, and roasted coffee; really well done. Flavour is very malt forward and dry with notes of burnt caramel, espresso, and bitter hops. A lingering bitterness and boozy warmth. Fantastic imperial stout.

Bottle at home. Three year old. Pours a dark brown to black colur with a big and compact beige head. Aroma of coffee, soy sauce, nuts, rye breas, dark chocolate, ash and roasted malt. Hint of smoke as well. Flavour of ash, roasted coffee beans, rye bread and very dark chocolate. Has a soft mouth feel, full-bodied and a light to medium bitterness. Well balanced, well roasted and a solid IS.
