A classic, strong, bottom-fermented beer with a dark, malt character. Enhanced with a generous amount of Polish cherry of dark bread, toffee and prunes, there are hints of chocolate-dipped cherries. The sweet, malty finish is pleasantly countered by a delicate, fruit tartness.

Slowly building cream-russet film over reddish, deep brown beer. Sweet-ish smelling, indeed cherries, or cherrysyrup. I seem to get billberries or blueberries too. And some roast. Liquorice, coffee, dark malts make up the flavour; the cherries reduced to a backthroat sour fruitiness. Roast & ashes. Full bodied, viscous-slick, even chewy. Warming feel. I would have preferred chocolate/cherries combination more in front. Oh well.

500ml can. Quasi black colour with small, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark beige to tan head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty and slightly fruity, minimally woody aroma, notes of dark chocolate, some couverture, hints of cherry, a touch of cherry wood, cherry flavoured dark chocolate, minimally smoky overtones. Taste is bitter roasty, slightly chocolately, dark malty and minimally fruity, minimally woody and smoky, hints of dark chocolate, roast, a touch of cherry, cherry wood, smoke, some liquorice.
Oily texture, smooth and soft, slightly greasy, simultaneously slightly dry palate, very fine, dense, mildly prickly carbonation.
Well crafted, quite bitter, weak fruitiness, not overly complex - not fully convincing.
