7th July 2016: shared in La Rovira, Barcelona on the first evening of the RBESG. An on tap Scottish Smoked Porter, wasn’t expecting that. Red hue to the dark brown bodied beer, the beige head hanging around for a while. How do you like your liquid smoked Ham? This wasn’t salted. I do struggle with these sorts of brews. Scored objectively.

Bottle. Near-black brown. Head disappeared quite quickly. Rich, chocolatey-coffee aroma, malt as well. Taste is chocolatey, typical porter in terms of being rich but not so heavy as a stout.some tangy fruit in there with the hop but the backbone of it is the bitter, chocolatey malt. Solid.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Black body with a medium beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of smoked malts, earth, ash and prunes. Flavour of chocolate and brown sugar. Slightly sour finish. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Rough around the edges, but overall a pretty decent Porter.
