(bottle) Dark brown colour with a beige mid-sized foamy head. Roast-malty aroma with notes of ground coffee beans, woodsmoke, dark chocolate and liquorice. Roasty bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Roasted malt character with hints of charred wood, coffee and dark chocolate; dry roast-malty and slightly ashy finish. Somewhat extreme with its ashtray flavours. 27.II.18

[ As Wooha Porter ].Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dark roasted, dark malt, light coffee, smoke notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, dark malt, roasted, chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. Bottle: Pitch black, presumably not clear, rather quickly collapsing creamy tanned head, distinctive dry bitter-roasty and fruity (dried fruits, what else...) nose with traces of cacao-powder; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, not without the inevitable light acidity, barely medium bodied; lingering dry bitter-ashy finish with some roasty and fruity spots. Just good...

Decent porter, too much tart cherry but a massive amount of roasted malt to give it a nice smokey base. Somewhat thin, somewhat watery; probably skippable unless you dig light smokey porters.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, courtesy of Simon. Pours deep brown, small tan head. Smoky aroma, charred malts. Taste is similarly smoky, woody, deep malts, some mild chocolate, nice charred ash on the finish. Very decent.

Bottle from the Caley Picture House. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - roast anda meat stock note. Dome biscuit at the back. Taste - more roast, some charcoal and still a meaty note. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - good porter though it has elements of dry stout.

Keg at the Counting House. Pours clear dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of light roast, faint chocolate. Taste is coffee and dark chocolate, cola. Roasted bitter, thin finish.
