12 ounce bottle into pilsener glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly clear golden straw color with a nice 1-2 finger dense fluffy white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big pear, grape, apple, pepper, bread, herbal, floral, grass, and earthy spiciness. Damn nice aromas with good strength, balance, and complexity. Taste of cracker, bready grain, apple, pear, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, light clove, and earthy spiciness. Lightly tart earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of bread, light fruits, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and earthy spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Nice amount of flavors with good balance; zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with almost zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very excellent Helles lager! Nice amount of flavors with good balance; extremely smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering as expected.

Somewhere: For some reason I have not had this earlier, as this is one of my favourite styles. Pour is gold (of course), head is white. Aroma is simple, but perfect for the style: bread, yeast, malts, and a hop. Body and taste compliment each other perfectly. No off notes. This is not too heavy like some overwrought American examples of the style. No, this is something you drink in two seconds and reach for another one. This beer is what pale lagers dream of being.

12 ounce bottle thanks to Dan. Pours a cloudy golden hue with a huge white head. The aroma is sweet grains and honey. A smooth flavor with light pears, some honey and a dry almost funky finish. Good and refreshing.

A color both eerie and beautiful, since it pours an amazingly bright gold, with an even more amazingly bright head. But I find myself afraid, having grown attached to my Imperial Stout darkness. I shall bolster myself and step towards the light. Smells like a lager, which is good in that it should smell like a lager, but bad in that lagers kinda stink. The flavor rolls across your tongue in a wave of sourdough-conjuring malts and yeasty apple, with a dry, classic finish, easy with a floral bitterness that’s very manageable. Killer feel, wonderful choice when searching for summer beer. (3/27/09)

Bottle from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours light gold with a creamy bubbly 2 finger white head. Aroma is definitely bready. There’s a hint of grass. Med body or almost. This is pretty good. Lightly bready and some spicey/grassy bitter. It’s clean. It’s refreshing. It’s almost crisp. This is a good beer. It’s even doing a bit of ring lacing in a light way.

Tap at Angels and Kings. Pours a clear, bubbly gold with a medium, pure white head. Sweet, malty aroma with notes of grain, straw, honey and fruits. More sweetness in the flavor with a malty base, then some hints of fruits. Finishes with crisp bitterness. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. A great American interpretation of the style.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Triangle Plaza Raleigh, NC. Pours a clear pale golden color with a medium white fizzy/frothy head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is grainy with notes of straw and faint corn. Taste is straw, grassy hops, grain, sweet corn and light fruits. Thin-medium bodied. Fairly strong carbonation. Decent.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly's, 4/27/09

Aroma: Grainy, Light fruit notes, touch of citrus - overall a pretty light nose
Appearance: Clear gold color, medium white head head
Flavor: Light malty flavor, a little sweetness, just a touch of hops bitterness in the finish
Palate: Light body, smooth easy drink
Overall Impression: This beer is nothing special, it's a mildly interesting Lager, but it certainly isn't something you should go out of your way to get your hands on.

Appearnce of pale yellow american lager. Fairly mild and smooth on the palate. Easy to enjoy with just a hint of bitterness in the background. Fairly smooth and well mannered. Probably a good session brew, light hearted and friendly. Does not stack up against Edmunton but IMHO is certainly better than Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold
