Not just another boring wheat ale. We made Contact High, our spring and summer seasonal, exciting by adding copious amounts of pacific northwest hops and dry hopping with fresh orange zest. Contact High pours a bright orange hue with a big citrus aroma.

12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 8/28/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, light pepper/pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity hops, orange zest, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops, orange zest, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance; and zero lingering hop/zest astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very nice hoppy American pale wheat ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops, orange zest, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Great balance of vibrant/dank hops and citrus zest; with a nice pale/wheat malt backbone, and minimal residual sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Not overly hoppy or bitter.

Can, at the pig, DC. An almost clear one, golden in color and with a small white head. Pineapple and a generic tropical fruity touch. Some reason notes too. It’s soft and medium bodied, quite dry. Peaches, pineapple and a decent bitterness in the flavor, with a medium length finish. A refreshing one, but a tad too focused on fruits I think. 150619

Light but very nice grapefruit aroma with some hay. Blonde pour with some head. Light bitter finish. Soft carbonation. Very smooth and nice for style. Like what a good wheat beer is without all the hops experimentation going on in the style these days. Tap at Churchkey.

Bottle shared in CT - thanks to mom and sis. Pours clear, pale gold with a foamy, white head. The nose holds some citrus fruit, tangerine, pale bread. Light-medium sweet flavor with low bitterness, lightly sugary wheat, tangerine meringue. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Pretty well balanced on the finish, some bitter pine needles. Solid.

Winter Beer Fest, Philly: Pours golden. Aroma is weed, juicy orange, and some more tropical fruit. Taste is much the same. The weed is pretty strong in this one (contact high methinks). Nice and easy. I liked this.
