The Bitter Druid ESB is a new twist on an old favorite. Our Americanized ESB blends American 2-row pale malt with choice British specialty malts to create a rich malt start that is followed by a crisp, American hop finish. This beer is a wonderful gateway to the world of hops due to it’s delicate balance and rich array of flavors.

Draft at The Heorot. Amber body. Short, off-white head. Grainy aroma with notes of grass, citrus, caramel and pale malt. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Some earthiness in the taste along with toffee, breadiness and husks. Off-balance. Unclean and less than memorable.

tap at the brewery - Pours lightly hazy copper with an off-white head. The aroma is mainly caramel malt. I didn’t get much in the way of aromatic hops. The flavor has plenty of bittering hops. The hops profile has the earthiness similar to the previous Sun King brews I tasted, but more intense of course. It’s medium bodied and could use more malt character.
