Geographically, “Bockbier” originated in the north of Germany in 1351. The strong beer was used in monasteries to sustain the monks while they were fasting, and it was traditionally brewed for the 40 days of Lent. Today this beer can be enjoyed all year round.

Smell of bread. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma of sweet malt, grass, booze. Some cereal also. Medium bitter. Medium carbon. A bit harsh.

0.5l can. Clear golden body with a white head. Aroma and taste of bready malts, sugar syrup, pop corn and some floral hops. Drinkable, but not my favourite maibock.

(Can, 0.5l, from a supermarket, 20250510) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had honey, grain, grass and alcohols. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, honey, alcohols, grain and bitterness. Aftertaste had honey, sweetness, alcohols, grain and bitterness. A boozy brew with clean flavours.

16oz can from HomeBrewStuff. Clear golden pour, sparse head disappears. Sweet, malty, grainy aroma, corn. Taste is musty, grainy, oily and overly sweet.

Dark gold with a large fluffy white head that left great lacing. Tang and sweet with notes of grassy and fruity hops. Long finish. Moderately full bodied.

0.5 l can @ home, shared /w my dad. Pours clear golden with thin head. Nose is butter, some sweet grains (mainly corn) and slight metallic notes. Taste is sweet grains, nothing too bad, but there’s some unpleasant undertone in the finish that sorta ruins it. Light to medium body, average carbo. Huge meh.

Pale malts, sweet, grassy hops, wet paper, sweet cereals. Very full mouth feel, super soft carb. Very sweet malty finish, hops fade to almost nothing. Cereals go from crisp to borderline cloyingly sweet. This. Seems very messy, and unrefined. I expect crisper and cleaner flavours and aromas. This is all over the place.
