Meet North Sea Porter — a bold twist on Anspach & Hobday’s classic London Black Porter. We packed it with mosaic hops, reworked the dark malt, and threw in a decoction mash. Balanced by a clean yeast aroma, it’s smooth, striking, and midnight-dark.

TCBW2026. Black colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is toasted malts, some floral, fruity and mild chocolaty tones to it. Flavour is quite similar to the aroma. Quite richly hopped, but still more portery than CDAish.

Tap at Valhalla Prague. Chestnut body, dark greyish beige head. Heavily caramelly, nutty aroma. Lean, dry taste, dark malt, low roast, low caramel, nutty, utterly simple. Bitterish finish. Very simple, very decent.

Not much hops character, but that is ok. Light grassy, earthy, hint of dank. Instead packed with dry coffeeish roastiness. It works tho, good balance, easy drinking, quite tasty.

440ml can. Almost black with a dense tan head. Aroma of dark malts, liquorice, chocolate, light roast. Taste of chocolate, dark malts, liquorice, roast malts, hint of vanilla, hops in the background, bittersweet. Medium bodied. Good.
London Black is a modern classic of the style but this "bold twist" doesn't really improve on it.
