Can at home. Pours a black colour with a big light brown head. Aroma of coffee, nougat, chocolate truffles and vanilla. Flavour has the addition of ash, oak and bourbon. Has a silky mouth feel, full-bodied and a light bitterness. Is rich and well roasted with lots of chocolate.

Can pour from BevMax, Hamden. Appearance is opaque black with decent sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger-width light brown foamy head with good retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong dark fruits and alcohol that gives it an almost barrel-aged flare, followed by roasted malt, coconut and maple syrup. Taste is strong dark fruit, alcohol (on the rubbing alcohol side), and roasted malt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with thick texture, average carbonation, astringent alcohol in the mouth but nice esophageal warmth, and finish as taste. Overall, the aroma is the highlight with interesting complexity. Unfortunately, the alcohol overwhelms the flavor and mouthfeel (not in a good way) so the coconut never materializes in the flavor and chocolate is not present. Overpromises and underdelivers.
