Featuring a hand selected coffee roasted by Shark Mountain Coffee. Sumatra FTO Ratu Ketiara Gayo Mandheling Grade 1 is a clean, wet-hulled Sumatran grown by the Ratu Ketiara Gayo women’s cooperative. Lightly roasted, this coffee's sweet chocolate and floral, spicy hop notes round out a smooth herbaceous earthiness. Early sensory notes have shown a beautiful harmony between the coffee and our rich imperial porter base.

Opaque colour, small steady beige head. Aroma is roasted malty with notes of cocoa and coffee. Medium-bodied. Coffee and licorice in the roasted malty flavour. Hides ABV reasonably well. Stylish strong porter.

Pour is a complete black with a small tan head. Aroma is not an intense coffee, it’s just kind of there with a little roasted nuts in the background. Flavor is on ok bitter coffee with a nice char malt. For a 10% beer there is no alcohol burn at all. The flavor of a nice coffee impy stout was there it just did not overwhelm like most impy stouts do. Decent flavor but kind of subdued but this could be dangerous as this drinks more like a 5% than the 10% it says on the can.

Sampled at Meridian Pint pours a murky black with some creamy, beige head. Nose has a lovely blend of brown sugar and high quality coffee, toasted bread, malt, mild molasses. Quite fragrant. Flavor is superb, brown sugar, a little cakey, chocolate, coffee bean, roasted malts, mild raisin, even hints of black pepper or ancho. Finishes in spectacular fashion, enveloping, long lasting but dry and peppery. A total surprise. Superb.
