Didn’t really think this was a Schwarzbier but figured it was the closest probable style fitting for this beer according to ratebeer suggested styles.
On tap at the brewpub, this was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy dark brown close to black color with a thin wisp of white head quickly dissipating. No lacing.
The smell had some burnt coffee grinds, light cocoa bean and sweet bready lager malts, more American than German (why I don’t think this is a Schwarzbier).
The taste had some great roasty to sweet bready to coffee grinds effect all around. Quick semi-bready aftertaste. Light smooth dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs smooth.
Overall, though not really a Schwarzbier, still good for the most part. I could come back to this.
