On tap at the brewpub.
This was poured into a flared tulip.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy burnt dark orange to brown color with a slim finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated immediately. Trickling lace. Looked nice.
The smell started off with the sweet rich malty tones of a scotch ale and then slides into the cherries. Sour, well, not so much, but slightly.
The taste was mainly the sweetness up front of the malts. Quick malty aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light and smooth. Malts hit more than the sour cherry. Still feels good for the most part.
Overall, I like the idea behind it, but, if they’re looking to do something different by making it sour, well, the sour is quite tame. Maybe again.
