Reviewed from notes.
On tap at the brewpub.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a ruddy malty dark amber/red color. Bar pour’s kind of slim white foamy head quickly dissipates. Lingering white rimmed messy lacing sticks to the sides of the glass.
The aroma takes on some of the sweet contours of the maple syrup but then some of the normal qualities of an amber ale = malty rich nutty to caramel/toffee notes.
The flavor brings it all together decently. Big malty tones weave through the sweet maple portion. Lingering malty rich sweet aftertaste. Slick caramel sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation feels good. Maple syrup even feels good, nothing cloying, just feels all around good.
Overall, really nice amber ale, maple syrup is there, but not overly done, as sometimes in these \"maple syrup\" flavored ales, most of the time, they get cloying, but this one is well balanced and worthy of more pours.
