Super deep dark brown coloured body with a fairly mild and underwhelming sliver of a pale off-white head on top, that shows some good opacity to the body, but nothing else. Aroma of roasted malt, cream, earth, nuts, light grain, a dash of grapes and a touch of coffee, all with a bunch of lactose and oats at the end. Medium-bodied; Strong oatmeal flavours with some roasted malts, earth and light nuttiness, but the cream, milk and lactose notes are evident throughout with a softer sweetness and a dose of coffee near the end, but the middle is all cream and milk. Aftertaste shows the grain, the cream, milk, molasses, light pitted fruits, coffee and earthy components while making the flavours stronger at the end without anything soft to fall back on, the grain and cream is very pungent. Overall, a nice and rich beer with a lot of oatmeal, grain and lactose notes throughout which give the beer the flavours is should have for the style in the manner that you'd expect, without anything unusual or wrong at all - a good and almost classic beer for the style! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Total Wine in Towson, Maryland on 27-May-2019 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington on 17-February-2020.

Both a taster and then a can from the brewery. Thanks for the late night tour!! Black with brown head that quickly dissipates. Solid milk chocolate. Overt lactose. A dry finish.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with a medium sized creamy beige head that left good lacing. The aroma was coffee, toasty malts and cream. The flavor was bitter woody and toasty with coffee and cream. Medium length coffee finish. Medium bodied and smooth. Solid.
