Our quest to brew the quintessential coffee beer began over a cupping with the coffee gurus from Richmond’s Lamplighter Roasting Company. Their Ethiopia Sidamo coffee was masterfully roasted to highlight the single origin bean’s bright, crisp body and distinctive blueberry undertones, making it harmonize beautifully with our Russian Imperial Stout. May this beer warm your spirits in these brisk winter months.

Purchased at Once Upon a Vine in Richmond, VA; enjoyed at my hotel room after running the marathon. Appearance is pitch black, rich tan head and body. Aroma is abundant with coffee and chocolate. Taste is very good, toffee coffee and chocolate profile, goes down smooth. Good stuff.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours an almost opaque black only with a very vague reddish hue, head is creamy beige. Sweet vanillaish coffee aroma. Rich, sweet body, roasty, bitter chocolate and then fairly well integrated coffee accents. Finish is a little boozy. Nice if a little to the sweet side. 060916

Bottle thanks to Sarah! Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of coffee and roasted malts with some sweet dark grains supporting. Flavor has bitter roasted malts and coffee throughout with some dark grains towards the finish.

Lots of coffee indeed. Black pour with good head and lacing. Creamy consistency. Some roast and dark chocolate. Bittersweet finish. Tap at whole foods.

Draft at Churchkey. Opaque briwn color, beige head. Aroma of earthy coffee grounds. Taste is coffee, of course, but it retains its beery characteristics. Better body than most coffee beers.
