This porter poured a deep brown colour with a lacking, soapy head. Even after a vigorous pour... very little head. To the nose nose there are scents of molassass, light smoke, Melloids cough candies and brown sugar. First sip had a thin mouthfeel with flavours of smoke, burnt malt and spoiled maple. Finish is sweet and smokey. This is like most Nickel Brook beer, seriously lacking.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark color porter with a medium foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of maple and roasted malt are easily detectable. Taste is a strange mix between some lightly sweet maple notes with dry roasted malt. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation and no signs of alcohol. Not bad overall but I am probably not the biggest fan of including maple in beer.

A dark reddish brown porter with a thick moka head. a nice chocolate and molasses aroma with Ricolla candy herbs. In mouth, a light crisp porter with some woody notes, amber maple syrup, light burned qualities. Medium bodied. On tap at Victory Café, March 22, 2009.
