Strong Sahti-style farmhouse ale brewed with barley, rye, juniper and Scottish spruce for the Independent Salford Beer Festival 2025. This rustic and intriguing brew delivers big fruit and cereal flavours with a touch of spice and a subtle acidic edge - think baked apple, crusty bread, Bircher’s muesli, fruit crumble with custard. Can @ Salt Horse, Edinburgh. Clear red brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, red berries and yeasty. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish. Oily and soft. 240726

Can. Near clear amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head, doesn't last. Light palate, a mild dryness, decent fine minerally carbonation. Been awhile since I had a Sahti. Coming back to me slowly. Soft caramel malts, not oversweet. Soft pine come spruce. Juniper? Pretty light. Light juicy tangy fruits, cranberryish. Light smooth finish. Amusing but, you can see why this will forever remain a niche style.

A World Cup Of Beers#7. SCOTLAND. An international brew with the football and had to go Scottish for the Scotland game. A dank dark amber colour, but it's not anything as foreboding as it might look. Rye and baked fruits combine for a brew full of taste, and a slightly sticky-sweet farmhouse ale. Rye is most prominent in aroma, becoming a tad more bready in taste. It's just as interesting as the football, and this was drank in the wee hours of the morning watching the seventh game of the tournament - Scotland vs Haiti.

Can from the back o my fridge. It pours mahogany brown with a dissipating odd white head. The aroma is earthy, sappy, fragrant, spruce, woody,rye bread, floral, tangy, almost vinous, dried berries, raisin, sultana, fruit cake, forest floor, dandelion & burdock, jammy, plum skin and damson. The taste is drying, slick, sappy, woody, spruce, bittersweet, sweet - sour, rye bread, very fruity, tangy, plum compote, damson jelly, date, raisin, fruit cake, muted tannin, damp leaves, spruce, ryvita, light leather and muted alcohol warmth. Finish is fairly soft. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Very interesting and quaffable. Even Mrs Scopey who dislikes traditional sahti was happy to drink it.

Can ordered from Left Field Beer. Hazy toffee brown. Thick foamy off-white head. Aroma has barley and the toasted malt with a sour edge. Chewy. Doughy. Flavourwise it's got a sweet and sour streak over chewy grains that are almost chocolatey and toasty crunch. Light-medium bodied. Slick to oily. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Enjoyable enough but I'd like to dial up the barley and toasted malts and dial down the juniper/pine.

Tap at craft beer junction. A mostly clear golden nut brown coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is semi sweet, nutty brown twig, broen sugars, brown bread, rye. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty malts, jammy fruit, fruit and nutty, dried fruit, fruit roll ups, earthy malts,. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, juicy, mellow carbonation. Ok.
