White wax dipped bomber. Pours jet black, with a medium brown head. Aroma s quite sweet. Very dark fruit, charred roast, light soy, and hints of sweet, sightly vegetal vanilla. Mouth feel is standard, not as viscous as i expected, and the carb is soft. Finish is medium bitter, quite sweeter than i expected. The vanilla is very soft, and is dominated by the base beer.

Small light brown fizzy shortlasting head, deep dark pour. Aroma is slightly sweet roasted, dark malts, vanilla, chocolate, oak, bourbon, cough syrup, old rope, honey, toast. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish boozy, old rope, bourbon, sour-ish roasted grain, minerals, toast, cough syrup, vanilla, oak, leather. Medium bitterness, slightly dry boozy mouthfeel. Nice.

The nose shows moderately intense notes of vanilla.

The palate is lightly carbonated and light bodied. Light vanilla and mildly sweet that transitions to an adzuki mid palate followed by a mild bitterness.

2017 bottle. Black color with beige head. Aroma is vanilla soy sauce, mild roast, pretty alright, but a bit old. Taste is good vanilla, chocolate, good sipping balance, pretty nice oily mouthfeel, fine-bubbled carbonation. Good!

2017 bottle to tulip. Pours dark brown with lighter brown highlights and brown head. Head is deep brown that fades somewhat quickly to a collar. Soft chocolate and sweetness with slight roast. Flavor is dusted chocolate and the roast really stands out here. There is a softness in the chocolate. Moderately full mouthfeel. Really nice and well rounded beer that has mellowed nicely over the years.

Rocky tan head stayed on a rich mahogany coloured body. Malt, bourbon & boozy aroma. Full bodied, soft, creamy & pillowy on the tongue with a cloying back. Dark chocolate, malt, raisin, vanilla & fruit cake tastes with a tangy bitter finish.
