This hop-forward beer combines the intense aromatics of an American IPA with the crisp drinkability of a German-inspired lager. Originally brewed as part of our first Beer Camp Across America pack, this beer features bold grapefruit and floral hop notes accentuated by the light body of a classic blonde lager.

Very nice crisp amber and copper coloured body with a nice, two to three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of citrus, bright grassy and herbal hops and a touch of sweetness from fruits - apricots and peaches all noticeable. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy flavour at first with some floral and piney hop notes, a little bit of malt noticeable and a more biscuity and earthy yeast flavour that shows the lager-side of things, but very nice and incredibly clean throughout. Aftertaste is subdued with hop bitterness up front that shows grassy and herbal elements and a touch of sweetness from the fruit at the very end. Well balanced throughout and drinks more of an ale than a lager. Overall, a nicely refreshing and balanced beer that shows all the right sides of a lager and a hop-based beer, and remains easy to drink without any pungency. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Shopper’s Food Warehouse in Alexandria, Virginia on 21-June-2017 for US$1,25 sampled in my hotel room here in Columbia, South Carolina on 20-August-2017.

Wasn’t expecting Sierra Nevada to nail this style so damn well. Giant citrus-tropical hop notes mix with a soft, non-threatening fruity lager base backed up by toasty biscuit malts and bitter, piney finish. Crisp but full, easy-drinking but complex, IPA-ish but still recognizable as a lager. Bright nose with hints of pine and sweet esters. Perfect feel, crisp and lively but not overly so, way too easy to put back. Not sure if this beer is available anywhere but the mixed twelvers, but it really needs a standalone sixer if not.

On keg at Hector’s. Appearance - hazy golden. Some head. Nose - grapefruit and resin. Taste - more grapefruit. Some orange. More resin. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - would not have thought this was lager. Good.

Bottle. Golden orange color with plenty of white head. Aroma of floral and citrus hops is pretty potent. Hops flavor throughout, citrus and floral. Very crisp and clean. Lightly malty, but mostly hops. Lingering bitters. Really starting to like this style... perfect for the summer heat.

Keg at Southwark Tavern cheers to Dave. It pours clear yellow with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh, juicy, bread, grass, cereal, Light caramel, soft fruity aspect and biscotti. The taste is crisp, clean, good level of bitterness, grassy, straw, tangerine, Light spice and white bread with a drying finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Decent.

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-tan body. Big, steady, white head. A pretty awesome Imperial Hoppy Lager IPL kind of thing. Full bodied, but drinks really clean, solid lager tones, pleasant well rounded hoppiness. Great beer.
