In local hometown Pennsylvania-Dutch fashion we crafted a lager that is brewed with very lightly smoked malts, infusing traditional Pennsylvania Dutch flavors not unlike like ring balogna. Kutztown Lager is not an overly smoked Rauchbier. Instead the Lager is bright amber in color with a very subtle hint of smoke flavor delivered with a classic crisp lager mouthfeel.

Poured brown amber. Foamy head. Hints of smoke and your standard vienna malts, a little off.

Bottle. Milk, light smoked biscuit malt, and dry straw aroma. Amber with large light tan head. Lightly sweet, smoky toffee malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Nice balance of smokiness and sweetness. Good body. Very nice.

Bottle: Nearly clear amber with a small, off-white head. Caramel, toasted bread-heel aroma. Taste is light caramel malt... While slightly toasty, I really didn’t pick up any smokiness to it....still, a pretty solid offering.

Total Wine, Fairfax bottle: pours copper with a white head. Aroma is pightly smoky and sugary. Taste is slightly soured. Bunch of rauchbier style smoke. Everything off balance. This is coming from someone who is a bog fan of the rauch. Really did not like it.

Good lager with ok barley profile. Crisp finish. Was easy enough to drink though my palate was shot by this point. Tap at Snallygaster.
