6er from the lcbo.
not much going on here, the aroma is quite muted. Light roasted nuts, some light grains. no spices or hops. The finish is again, almost mute. light grains, some light nutiness.....very boring.

Draught @ Brothers Beer Bistro, Ottawa. Pours slightly hazy ruby / copper brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel, with notes of fruit and subtle touches of hops and yeast. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt and fruit, with notes of nuts and hops and estery touches. Sweetish, slightly fruity aftertaste. Low carbonation. Okay but not top notch. 150715

Spearhead Moroccan Brown Ale 6% Clear brown with a tan head and a fruity dates, figs and spices. Medium bodied with figgy caramel and spices. More bitter than I expected with a herbal quality. Ok —— 2014 3.1———— A deep amber brown, thick luscious beige head. Sweet malty, caramel, raisins in the aroma. The taste is tame after reading the label which had me expecting figs, dates, raisins & cinnamon.  The taste is a decent brown ale with very mild raisin/figs. After it warmed up the cinnamon came out a bit. OK but I was expecting more after reading the label.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a hazy deep orange brown with a small tan head that clings to the glass. Nose is bread and sweet malt and dark fruit. Sweet with notes of spice that I would not have identified as cinnamon without reading the description. Slightly watery body with a quite short dry finish.

Bottle: Poured a brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma consists of caramelized malt with light dry fruits with some light spices including cinnamon are also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by cinnamon with some caramel malt with medium residual sugar notes and some dry fruits notes also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Interesting mix of flavours but lacking a bit fo integration to make it truly remarkable.

This brown ale poured a dirty, dark red colour with a big, tan coloured, frothy head. To the nose there are scents of caramel, cinnamon, toast and nuts. First sip was very smooth with a nice lightly creamy mouthfeel. Tastes of caramel, toast and very small hint of cocoa. Finish is a little bitter with flavours of hops and caramel lingering.

Comes in a 6-pack at the LCBO. Pours a hazy dark amber colour with a light beige head that dissipates quickly enough and hardly any lace is left. Big aromas of dates and nuts. After breathing, caramel malts come out with some rusty hops. Medium-bodied and a little oily. Mild fruity taste at the start with raisin notes, but then, hop shows up in the finish giving this one a nice bitterness. Hints of burnt nuts appear in the aftertaste. This is an interesting brown ale, but not sure I could drink more than one per session.

A dark reddish brown ale with a thick brown head. In aroma, a sweet fruity malt with dark fruits, cocoa, quite nice. In mouth, a nice smooth roasted malt with dark fruits, chocolate, powdery, nice and rich. On tap at Arrow and Loon, Oct. 17 2012.
