Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Mahogany-brown with a thin beige head. Toffee, brazil nuts and chocolate with a woody note. Raisins and blackberries come through. Sweetish but with a drying finish. Decent stuff, I enjoyed this.

Dark brown with a tinge of red, a frothy / creamy light tan head and a soft nutty brown sugar aroma. Light bodied, sweet toffee malt, dark fruits, floral hops offer some moderate bitterness, finishes very dry with a hint of nuttiness and a touch bitter.

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A mahogany coloured pour with a cream coloured rim; toasted malt aroma; silky in the mouth with a rich toasted malt taste, but rather thin; then a dry earthy finish with a nutty aftertaste.

Third of a pint in my local Spoons on 7th March 2026. Red hue to the brown body, half chestnut/mahogany maybe, off white crust, it's dark in here. Malty and nutty with an earthy biscuit like taste, decent Brown Ale all round.

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a medium sized frothy off-white head and excellent lacing. The aroma has roasted malts, treacle and biscuits. In the mouth it is slightly bitter from the start, but becomes increasingly more so. Flavours are roasted malts, toffee and parkin, with hints of chocolate and dark fruits coming later. Finish is quitev dry and fruity. This is decent.

Cask at Archibald Simpsons. It pours clear chestnut brown with a thick, fluffy pale tan head. The aroma is bitter - sweet , caramel, cola, toasty brown sugars, toasted fruit loaf, chocolate and coffee. The taste is dry, nice punchy bitterness, earthy, wood, leather, light tannic, roasty coffee, toasted nut and lightly charred notes. Light to average body and moderate, fluffy mouth feel. Enjoyable and delivers plenty of flavour for the abv.
