750 ml corked and caged bottle. Opague dark brown color. small creamy beige head. Burnt sugar and roasted malt aroma. Some spiciness evident. Tangy roasted malt flavor. Dark fruits, molasses and cinnamon appear. Tastes like an Abbey dubbel with spices. Nice warming alcohol finish.

A clear dark brown ale with a thin white head. A nice nutty malt with orange peels, a bit funky and herbal, quite nice. In mouth, a nice light licorice wafting through the malt, a bit of chocolate, medium bodied. Very nice indeed. On tap at brewpub, Dec. 28 2008.

Re-rate from bottle. Brown amber, big fluffy golden brown head. Spicy nose, light caramel/broen sugar, plums, orange peel. Sparkly dry body, pumpernickel mouthfeel, Westmalle spiciness, sugar, nicely balanced by hops and fruit into a fresh and moreish finish. Very drinkable. 6 3 7 3 13 Tap @ Brewers Art
Red brown, no head. Fruity and spice ginger, earhty peel notes. Medium to light body, easily drinkable. Nice but was probably a bit past its prime.
