This beer pours a deep reddish-copper color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Surprising aroma of peaches, brown sugar and malt. Light body with notes of peach, earthy malt and caramel. The finish is toasty with a short peach aftertaste. On one hand it isn’t fair to have a negative reaction to a beer based on preconceived notions of what flavors coincide with a certain season, but even if the label read "Summer Peach" it would not have been any more enjoyable. Slightly above average either way.

Appealing garnet tinted brown color with a thick creamy head. Aroma unusual, somewhat fruitcakey with candied fruit, including peach, and chocolate-orange. Flavor similar but the fruitiness is more candy-like, not sweet, but artificial. The lingering peachy aftertaste reminds me a lot of Southern Comfort, so strange. I’m not sure what element the pecans add, if any, but the combo of peach and pecan makes me think of Georgia, not Christmas, again strange. Not a thin mouthfeel but almost so, and def not the body one would expect in a holiday beer. Finish is strangely herbal-bitter and unpleasant. Do not like.

12oz bottle from the homefront in Joppatowne MD. Filtered looking amber-brown color. Sugar peach aroma. I applaud Shiner for making a creative product. Nuttty, sweet, fruitcake action. Malt and spice centric, not much hoppitude to speak of. Easy drinking, medium bodied. Somewhere out in left field but I can dig it.

Bottle on 11/10/2010. Clear red body with a small off-white head. Sweet peach and light cherry aroma. Big peach flavor with light cherry notes. Medium body with moderately high carbonation.

12 oz bottle. A little odd. Definately notes of peaches. Touch of nuttiness in beer, touch of butter. This is pretty sweet, but I really enjoyed this one, though I can imagine only in moderation would I find any joy in this Holiday Cheer.

12 oz, bottle, $1.50 at HyVee, Storm Lake, IA in July. In other words, last year’s beer. I’ll try to take any aging problems into account. Nice amber pour, then in my American Wheat glass, it’s a ruby/brown with a brief topper of foam. Smell has sweet peaches, almost a hint of strawberry and apricot, too. Very nice, not too sweet fruit smell, and I’m a guy who can find fruit beers tiresome in a hurry. Taste is a nearly equal balance of dunkel malts with fruit that’s hard to find. Skips the graininess of some dunkels, and maybe a fresher bottle or tap might show some weizen esters. I still don’t really know how pecans play out in a beer, but that seems to be the source of a slight bitterness that I can’t put to hops. I’m imagining this did in fact use peaches in the brew; most peach beers would rack onto peach puree and pick up a lot of sourness. But no sour here, just a nice mildly sweet peach note that makes this indeed a nice holiday beer for before dinner or dessert. I’ve had a couple southern beers with pecans now, and a few with southern fruits, all from Abita, in fact, and it’s interesting to see this as a new regional beer variation.

Fizzy clear amber pour - nose of berry-ish fruitiness and dough, kind of resembling fruitcake - moderate acidity, but mostly sweet in aroma - very "candied fruit" smelling - flavor is peach-esque up front, but if I had not know it was peaches, I may have guessed cranberry - again, a hint of acidity - the second half is doughy, rather sweet, with some raisin and caramel, resembling a bock - this is the point where is starts to taste somewhat decent, but everything that came before detract from what is quite possibly a good base beer - eh, it’s okay.
