One of our Holiday Spiced Beers - ABV: 6.3% - Brewed with cinnamon, pears and a touch of orange peel. Our Partridge in a Penn Tree is a smooth golden ale that captures the season. Its softly sweet and gently spiced. A true taste of the winter's warmth for you from Pittsburgh's oldest craft brewery.

Can from a penn brewing 12 count variety pack for $11, about a buck each. Pour is cloudy dirty pale, with a slight orange light brown tint. No head. Nose is very light spice. First taste is certainly pear, then that is backed up with some cinnamon and a little orange peel. I'm usually turned off with holiday spiced brews but this stuff is not as in yer face with the spice. Yes, its there, and you can't miss it, but its seems to be better balanced than most spiced bombs. Also has a good level of co2 to help out with the cinnamon and orange peel dissipation. Not overly sweet. Alky is certainly present for a 6% brew and sometimes I think I'm getting some shades of aged merikan malt likkah in there near the finish. Overall was hoping for something a little more refreshing and civilized, but its ok by me.
