Roodbruin bier met mooie schuimkraag. Smaak is warm, krachtig en kruidig met iets van zoete bessen, mango en heel licht grassig/hooi. Erg lekker.

19 December 2018. At De Gouverneur, Maastricht. Shared with Anke. Pours hazy dark amber with a lasting, thin, off-white head; little lacing. Aroma of dried fig & prune, candied plum, mocha, milk chocolate, licorice, cookie dough, kahlua, perfume. Taste is medium malty sweet, a bit nutty next to more apparent notes of dried fig & other dark fruits, edge of caramel too. Light to medium herbal bitter then, cinnamon & licorice next to a touch of toast & mocha; hint of sourish lemon in the back with a (retronasal) perfumey effect. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, bit toasty, lingering cookie, candy & spices, with sharpish herbal liqueur alcohol to top it off. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Nice one, the sharp alcohol does not impair the overall taste.

Bottle @ Van Moll brewpub. Clear reddish color, decent sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, floral, tonka beans, caramel notes, somewhat sweet up from but bitter in the finish. Quite bizarre especially for a barley wine, but interesting for sure!

Amber/rood met lichte kraag. Aroma is zoet, graan, mout.
