On tap at NHBF’17. Black colour, beige-brown head. Aroma of lots of coffee, roasted malts, brown sugar, soy, vanilla. Flavour is hard-roasted malts, coffee, but also very sweet, sugary, metallic mouthfeel, some vanilla, bittersweet finish. Full bodied. Unbalanced but tasty.

Nitro glass @ Billie’s Bier Kafétaria. Looks wonderful, black oil with a very dark mocha head with different shades, pretty. Minor lacing. Nose is low umami, chocolate (dark), big slaw of instant coffee & fain soy sauce, mocha. Taste is mellow umami, basic lightly roasted coffee & zero vanilla, rather umami, nitro clearly helps here, making it a bit creamier but it still feels rather empty, basic umami, no complexity, zero vanilla. Pretty decent / okay. This is my 4th De Moersleutel beer & I still don’t get the Dutch hype for these guys.

Bottle from Drinks & Gifts, batch 1727 BB 05-2021, 37.5 cl sample. Dark color, short frothy fluorescent brown head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate brownie, soft vanilla and spicy coffee. Velvety texture. Lots of roast in taste together with dark bread crust, which gives a roasty and bready bitterness. Well balanced, quite straightforward, good job.
