We just released a draft-only batch called Engelberg Pilsener, named after Mt.Angel. It’s German-style: light, dry and full of hoppy flavor. We made a simple single malt (Canadian pilsener malt) and single hop (Mt. Angel-grown tettnanger) recipe using a Munich lager yeast. The finished beer came out remarkably dry so for the second batch set to be released around the third week of July we coaxed just a bit more mouthfeel and residual sugar out of it and used a different hop variety, hallertauer mittlefruh. The beer is currently on tap in the tasting room and at a handful of bars around town. When the second batch is ready both will be on hand to taste side-by-side.
Editor’s note: used to be all-tettnanger, now is tettnanger and hallertauer.

[2/26/15] Draught at Upright Brewing in Portland. Clear straw color. Nice aroma of lager yeast, a bit of bready malt and some herbal/grassy hops. Flavor has some sweetish bready malt, lager yeast and nice noble hops bitterness. A good Pilsener.

Light gold, the aroma is a bit grassy. Dry, herbal with light pale malt character...authentic north German and good balance. Dry finish. The malts seem American, but I like the noble hops.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Hazy blond color, small head. The aroma is somehow vulgar, but the flavor is decent, some malt, cereals, and light residual sweetness; correct bitterness; the hops are a bit grassy.
Decent.

Sampled on tap at Upright tasting room, pours a clear yellow with a small white head. Aroma of straw, grass and corn - generic. Flavour is much more inviting, with dry grassy hops, dry toasted bread and light citrus. The dry hops linger pleasantly on the finish. Very well-made pilsner.
