Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a cloudy brown with beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is diaceytal, and roast. Medium mouthfeel with nutty buddy flavor, light roast, and butter. Decent.

Bottle from Whole Foods Westlake, Seattle
Black color with froty brownish head. The aroma is very interesting, vanilla cream, similar to a cream brule or tiramisu. The body is weaker than expected, weak indeed; the mouthfeel is soft; roasted malt flavor, very moderate sweetness, a bit of quality coffee, hints of spirit (brandy). Latte-style final.
Nice but simple.

22 oz. bottle, courtesy of fiulijn (thanks a lot, Alex), pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out dark fruits, brandy barrels, and some light roast. Flavour is fairly soft, with notes of dark fruits, very light brandy, soft cocoa and a touch of vanilla. Surprisingly soft and light on the palate, with not a whole lot of body. The alcohol is definitely warming, but it isn't that boozy. Lacking some body, but this is a nice enough sipper. Solid stuff.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Handy pull tab to get the wax removed. Pours very dark brown/black with a dark tan head. Aroma is full of rich dark malt, fruits, coffee and chocolate. Full bodied and more. Heat is barely perceptible. Probably because all the other flavors are so strongly present/pleasant. I doubt the Russian court got anything this fruity flavored. It’s something of a fruit/sugar bomb, but that’s not necessarily bad, unless you were looking for a same ol, same ol. IS. With the passage of time I think I’m getting some vinosity from the brandy barrels, and it seems to come with a little heat build up. This is a very different and relatively complex ale. Glad I’m into it before summer heat gets a good start. Extremely tasty ale.
