To admit that the brewers at Half Pints are hopheads is an understatement. This India Pale Ale is unabashedly hoppy, with a grapefruit-like aroma due to a large addition of hops directly to the final tank (a process called “dry hopping”). A firm, toasted malt presence forms the background for all these hops lending balance so it’s not just a one note symphony.

Bottle @ Boon Burger. Pours a clear amber with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a decent amount of citrus that is supported by a growing pine and a touch of resin. Flavor is more pine forward with notes of grass and resin underlying as well as a grain backbone.

Bottle: Nearly clear, light amber with a short, white head. Grapefruit, orange aroma. Taste is strong citrus.....grapefruit, solid grapefruit-peel..an almost leafy bitter. A straightforward and moderately bitter IPA.

Bottle. Orange/grapefruit malt and grapefruit peel aroma. Slightly hazy golden yellow with moderate head. Lightly sweet tangy orange malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel flavor. Good - like that it isn’t as sweet as the average IPA.

Bottle shared by Iphonephan at the DC Pre-Thanksgiving tasting. Thanks! Poured a clear golden color with a small fizzy head. Aroma was some earthy notes, some light bitterness. Flavor was a light earth notes. Maybe not fresh so the hops have mellowed out?

On tap at The Underground, pours a clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out light piney notes and biscuity notes. Flavour brings out an excellent balance of smooth piney hops, some resin and crisp biscuity malt. Nicely hoppy, without any astringency. Excellent IPA.
