750 ml bottle. Pours a almost black color with a large beige head. A big fruity nose, interesting deep musty almost note, I think this is alderwood. The flavor is huge dark fruit, umami, woody, sweet almost BBQ sauce element, yeast, more dark fruit essence. Very good, more of a porter with the smoke not being the only or even dominant flavor at times. As such, it is damn good.

750 mL bottle courtesy of Secret Santa shared at the 21st Richmond Gathering, 11/1/14. Pours a hazy thin frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of strong smoke, caramel, leather, mild fruits. The taste is tart berries, smoke, peaches, caramel. Medium bodied, good balance. Nice beer.

GABF 2014. Almost black. Well roasted malt and grain flavors; not sweet at all. Smoke in the aroma and the flavor; which is done reasonably well. Good.

Sample at Cock & Bull Pub in Sarasota. Pours black with a thick and foamy off-white head that recedes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt, wood and chocolate. Medium-bodied with flavors of charred malt, smoked wood and a bit of dark chocolate. The finish is smoky with a burnt malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a near clear dark brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of smoke and a bit of leather note with some dark grains and a bit of roasted malts. Flavor has the same notes of smoke and leather backed by dark grains and roast.
