Not bad. Pleasant toasted malts, nips of caramel and brown sugar, mild earthy bitterness, a suggestion of cocoa. Drinks fine.

Cask up the White Lady. Pours clear amber with a thin double cream-coloured head. Aromas of toffee and light fruit. Taste is more of the same. Light sweet finish.

Chestnut brown with a small frothy white head and a toffee malt and mellow floral hop aroma. Light to medium bodied, has a touch of chewiness to it, sweet toffee, maybe some chocolate, floral hops lighten it and offer a touch of bitterness, finishes dry and bittersweet.

Third of a pint in my local Spoons on Sunday 8th March 2026. Clean dark amber body, white topping. Malty front with a slight nutty chocolate flavour, low hop content made it a little sweet, almost liked it.

Cask handpull at Shakespeare Head Holborn JDW. Clear mid brown colour lasting beige head. Yes some malt. Some light chocolate flavour. Could do with a bit more brown malt to be a brown ale. Not any real bitterness on the finish. Light fruit esters. Some yeast character on aroma. Bit bland.

Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival 2026, Beer#3. Not a full-on brown style, in this quite hoppy clear golden-amber ale. Its malty too, not low on taste within its style and a decent festival version for this guest brewer. Some sweetness, only a slightly watery texture lowering the tone.

5/3/2026. Cask at wetherspoon’s beer festival. At the Bell Hotel, Norwich. This was served straight from cask. Pours fine. Aroma is malty, hedgerow, berries, sweet fruits, hint of chocolate, liquorice and burnt rubber. Bittersweet taste. Lightly drying. Finished sweeter. Quite drinkable.
