Can, from Trader Joe's, Chicago. Poirs faintly cloudy amber-copper with a small foamy beige head, caramel malt aroma, medium carbonation, mildly sweet caramel malt taste with light grassy hops bitterness, thin body, long caramel malt finish. Very agreeable Marzen.

Pours a nice gold from a can, however the head fizzes away to nothingness in seconds leaving only some vertical effervescence, somewhat odd and I usually don't mark appearance as a 3. But to me this essentially looks like a still beer. Big malty and crackery flavor and aroma, a bit of marshmallow and grass in the nose. Somewhat oily and rather sweet. Okay beer.

This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a burnt to ruddy orange brown color with a soft one finger white foamy head that dissipated within appropriately. A light rim of white lacing glazes around the glass nicely.
The smell starts off with a delicate toast, toffee and caramel malts running into a light earthy spice. I don’t mind it for me but its a little different.
The taste was moderately earthy sweet with the spice coming in trying to make an effort to balance. It gets a little grassy in the aftertaste and almost tobacco-like leading into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fine for the style and for me. That tobacco-like substance along with the earthiness makes up the feel along my tongue.
Overall, its not a bad Oktoberfest, just a bit different, pretty sure I could have this again.

Can from America on Tap Deep golden color with a frothy white head. Rich bready pilsner maltiness with just a hint too much spicy earthy hop to counter. I enjoyed this but its a bit too hoppy for style.

Tap at Rogue Roost, Providence. It pours clear deep amber with a decent white head. The nose is brown bread, light caramel, earth, bran and wood. The taste is bitter, earthy, brown bread, cereal, toasty, mild spice, bran and slightly burnt notes with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty basic stuff.

Bottle. Clear deep golden amber color, persistent beige head. Aroma is a bit odd, smoky slightly medicinal toasted biscuit. Taste has cocoa and more medicinal oddness.

With the Patriots season starting off to a sputter I realized I better step up and do something so I am only drinking New England brew during games for time being and im starting with homeland of RI. This pours deep copper with nose o’s earthy hops and caramel. Tastes of caramel, honey, red apple, some spicing, malt, earth, and some cocoa. Clean palate and easy drinking. Pleasant Oktoberfest brew.

22 oz. bottle purchased at Julio’s. Very dark amber / brown color. Aroma has a strong caramel malt base with chocolate and mild earthy hops.

The flavor is moderate chocolate malt, caramel candy follows with the earthy dirty hop giving a mild bitterness in the finish. Body is medium with a balance palate. Chocolate influenced Marzen.
