With clear notes of espresso, dark chocolate and a hint of authentic Icelandic coffee, this Porter is dark and rich, offering a medium body that is robust, yet smooth on the palate and easy to drink. There’s no need to be afraid of the dark anymore.

Sampled from the tap at Red Cow North Loop. Pours a clear brown with an earthy brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a toasty roast with light dark grains and a slight earthiness underlying. Flavor has slightly sweet dark grains with a bit of roast and roast supporting.

From a can. I enjoyed this. Standard porter flavors with something extra, more chocolate and a little sweeter than most.

It isn't what you can smooth, but it's Iceland.

AROMA: Sweet with strong scents of brown sugar and toasted malt, which is then followed by hints of chocolate and coffee. The aroma is very enticing!

APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a very tall, dirty-tan head that dissipates very slowly with excellent lacing. In a clear, Pilsner glass it looks like all proper Porters should, but so rarely do.

TASTE: Moderately sweet with flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, toasted malt, and caramel. The finish is slightly sweet with the caramel and coffee being the last flavors to fade away. There is also a bit of sharpness/tinge throughout that I find quite pleasing as it helps to balance the sweetness.

MOUTHFEEL: Full-bodied with a somewhat smooth texture that has just a touch of stickiness at the end. Carbonation seems average.

OVERALL: About the only "gripe" I can come up with is that, for a Porter, I find it to be a little on the sweet side. But I ain't complaining, because it's one delicious beer with great visual and odoriferous qualities! I will definitely be buying this on a regular basis.

Foodery: pours dark brownish with beige head. Aroma is coffee, robust maltiness. Taste is lightly bitter, chocolatey. Not bad.

Can (born 5/25/22, drink by 7/25/23) pour shared by Steve. It's a virtually opaque dark brown with finger-width beige head with good retention. Aroma is toasted malt--a bit earthy/twiggy--minerals, toffee and a bit of coffee. Taste is earthy roasted malt, toffee, roasted coffee a bit on the charred side. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium, smooth, finish is quite bitter. Overall, aroma shows promise but taste if overly roasted, charred, bitter.
