This beer doesn’t hold back. We start with as much Canadian barley as we can fit in our mash mixer, then add some toasty Munich malt and toffee-flavoured crystal malt for a rich, malty balance to the hop onslaught that follows. We cram our kettle with Centennial and Cascade hop varieties for refreshing clean bitterness and hop flavour, then dry hop in the fermenter for an aroma that will spank you right in the face. Party like its 1772!

Great looking beer with huge head and clear brown body. Aroma is soft hops of no further uniqueness. Hoppy flavour of little complexity but has a bitter lingering finish. Not my favourite kind of ipa.

On tap. Pours a clear deep amber with a medium, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves plenty of lace. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, tropical fruit, citrus, floral and pine. Sweet flavour of biscuit malt, caramel, lemon rind and pine resin with a crisp, dry, bitter grass finish. Medium body with a slick, oily texture and average carbonation. Not bad.

On tap at the Malpeque Oyster Barn. Pours a clear orange gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has bread and earthy citrus with a bit of grass backing. Flavor has more of a bitter citrus note with a slight earthiness and a grain backbone.

Clear light copper with a large frothy off white head that fades slowly leaving a bit of lace. Big citrus, tropical fruit and pine nose with a light caramel backing. Lightly sweet malt with a medium- citrus bitterness. Slightly thin slick body with average carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. Nose is more prominent than the flavour and could use some more body, but their best offering of those I have had so far.

Bottle shared by solidfunk at the DC Summer Saison & Sour Tasting, 7/12/14. Pours a clear copper color with a thin white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of cinnamon(?), caramel malt, floral hops. The taste is bitter hops, caramel and biscuit malt. Medium bodied, slight lingering bitterness. Yay new province (or is that a territory?) tick!

On tap at The Gahan House as part of the sampler. Pours a slightly hazy deep chestnut color with a smallish white head. Aromas of earthy citrus hops and a light crackery bready caramel maltiness. The flavor is bitter and resinous with a solid shot of caramel maltiness behind it. Decent IPA but it relies more on harsh bitterness than smooth hop flavor.
