Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a nice thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, earth, pit fruits, prunes and some deep oak - very nice. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasty flavour with a lot of vanilla and oak going through along with a good deal pit fruits, prunes and a little coffee notes throughout. Aftertaste shows a good oak and vanilla kick and a little alcohol warmth with brandy and dry oak on the finish. Overall, a nice and pungent beer with some good oaky characteristics, still showing a good deal of alcohol. I sampled this on draught at ChurchKey in Washington, DC on 23-February-2015.

Draft at Jack Rose. Cloudy amber color, bright tan head. Aroma of vanilla, butterscotch. Taste is boozy caramel, light spice.

Draft at Jack Rose - thanks Travlr! This one poured a dark ruby red color with a wispy white head - started to get dark up at the bar, so it was hard to really see well, so from this point on most of the beers I drank looked the same. Aroma was sweet grains with some candi notes, lots of malt, some barrel and wood in there. Flavor was sweet, boozy. Alcohol burn. Okay, but I liked the original more.

4oz pour at Jack Rose DC. Pours a muddy burnt amber with a ring of cream colored head. Nose is heavy booze, tons of raisin and dried cherry, vanilla, caramel, wood pulp, cake icing, candle wax. Flavor is worse, malt, honey comb, a little vodka, some tea, brown sugar. Like drinking a bad Caipirinha. Hot finish. Too much everything.
