India Black Ale (IBA) je mladi stil piva, ki se je najprej pojavil v ameriških domačih varilnicah (home brewed), njegove lastnosti pa so določili in izpilili pivovarji craft pivovarn. V osnovi je to ameriška različica Pale Ala s poudarjenim značajem temnega praženega slada, a brez značilne ostrine skoraj do oglja praženih zrn ječmena, kot je to značilno za stil Stout. Poudarek je na srednje lahkem telesu z nežnimi niansami okusov in vonjav popečenega kruha, kave in temne čokolade, ki se mešajo z okusi tropskega sadja in citrusov ameriških sort hmelja,
V pivovarni Tektonik smo zvarili Nelsona z dodatkom praženega biskvitnega in temnega karamelnega slada. Značilno ogleno barvo je prispeval oluščeni in zelo temno praženi ječmenov slad, ki pa nam je ravno zaradi odstranjenih luščin prihranil rezko ostrino. Kot se za ta stil spodobi, je izdatno suho hmeljenje v posodah za zorenje (dry hopping), še dodatno izoblikovalo polno in svežo aromo tropskega sadja.
V pivovarni Tektonik smo zvarili Nelsona z dodatkom praženega biskvitnega in temnega karamelnega slada. Bottle shared at a tasting. One of the few CDAs which correspond to my idea of the style yet taste different from the bulk of similar beers in this category. Nice exotic fruity hoppiness comes through both in aroma and flavour. High bitterness, balanced by light chocolatey and roasty maltiness. Balanced and moreish finish. Great beer.

Bottled, courtesy of and shared with Mladen, HammerTroll et al. (thanks!). Almost black dark brown/red body. Off white head. Dark malty notes with light hop. Roasty malty notes in the taste, hoppy notes, orange, light, OK. Notes could be better, eh.

Bottle thanks to Nihtila. Appearance - dark brown and a little murky with a decent thin head. Nose - woody and light caramel. Taste - more caramel, tangy toffee. Some red fruits. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good palate but not such a good representation if the style.

Bottle, 0.33l. Pours murky dark brown with thick soapy light brown head, nice lacing and sparkling appearance. Aroma of peach, tropical fruits, citrus, roasted malt and coffee. Taste starts sour grainy and refreshing fruity, follows by roasted malt and coffee with dry mouth feel and moderate bitter finish. Medium body, creamy texture and lively carbonation in palate. Flawless and good...

Pours almost black color. Topped with a sizeable cream colored head. Very nice retention. Immediate easily noticeable fruity aromas with peach, citruses and other sweet tropic notes. Some mild chocolate later on, some spicy feel as well. Nice bitterness, sligh sweet fruity notes and mild roasty finish. Silky and very enjoyable.

On tap at Pivo & Burger Fest Ljubljana. Black coloured, medium sized beige head, mild fruity roasty nose. Roasted malt, chocolate, herbal hoppy and hint of coffee with mild hoppy and roasty finish. Pleasant brew.
