WEED NEIPA W/ CITRA, NELSON AND CANNABIS TERPENES

As part of our Winter Affair Gossip series, brewed for our annual Winter Affair festival, we teamed up with Slovak brewery Firstep to experiment beyond the borders of classic hop-forward NEIPAs. The result is a juicy beer with Citra, Nelson Sauvin and cannabis terpenes – aromatic, unconventional, and truly unforgettable.

For the third year in a row, we’re hosting our international tasting festival Winter Affair, and just as long we’ve been brewing collaboration beers with some of the participating breweries. It’s a uniqueopportunity to get to know each other better, share insights, and combine our brewing know-how. Beers brewed as part of the Winter Affair Gossip series are the result of these meetings – blending brewing cultures, unique recipes and a shared love for craft across borders and continents. With Slovak brewery Firstep, known for their modern beer styles and fearless approach to pushing boundaries, we decided to try something a little different. Instead of a classic NEIPA, we ventured into an experiment with cannabis terpenes – aromatic compounds that lend the beer a herbal, resinous and subtly earthy character reminiscent of fresh cannabis. The base is built on a proven hop duo – Citra and Nelson Sauvin. Citra brings notes of citrus and tropical fruit, while Nelson adds a dry white wine aroma, gooseberry and a touch of spicy depth. Combined with the cannabis terpenes, this creates a bold, modern NEIPA that smells unlike anything you’re used to – wild, fresh, and surprisingly balanced.

Hops used: Flex extract, Citra, YCH 702 Trial Extrakt, Nelson Sauvin, Citra Cryo

Med-full bod, med oatiness, med carbo. Med sweet, med-light bitter. The terpenes are working well with the hops here, loads of juicy tropical and citrusy hops, medium dank grass, med-light grapey white wine. Easy drinking, ABV hidden well. Tasty, v good.

Can at TSVP as the quasi-acronym of the place appears on the fridges. Hazy golden-yellow body, off-white head. Heavily dank aroma. Dayum. Mild oaty touches, not too fruity, vaguely citric but that might be just from the terpenes. Bit juicy, smooth, yet slightly dull oaty body mainly the dank terpenes, but some fruitiness does show up. And it works. Mild hopburn in the finish, from hops fully overwhelmed by the terpenes. Oh well. Complex, fun, what it says on the label in the end.
