Pale Dog Pale Ale is an homage to our chairman. Full of malt character with a dry, crisp and hoppy finish. We start with a base of the highest quality 2 Row malted barley our eyes have ever seen. We blend that with a small amount of Vienna and Caramel malts to add distinct character and mouthfeel and then mash strategically for both attenuation and a balanced malty sweetness. Throughout the boil we use a blend of Summit, Columbus and Cascade to lend flavors of resinous fruit and dank pine. The kettle hop additions provide an enticing aroma and noticeable but balanced bitterness and we dry hop in the fermenter to deliver a mouthful of hoppiness.

Draft at the source. Aroma is pale grains, mild citrus and light pine. The flavor is very well balanced between malt and hops. The bitterness is slightly lingering after the sip. The cascade hop is done well here. This is a well done classic example of the style.

Can. It’s a clear golden colored beer with a dense, light beige colored head. Citrus peel, pinecones and a little malty touch on the nose. The flavor is equally straight forward and un-challenging, but still nice. Some malty flavors in the back, mostly pale malts, and lots of hops up front, with a nice bitterness level. Full body, pleasant carbonation. Lasting finish. This is the kind of pale ale I like. 149512

D &Q Mini Mart, Houston can: Pours golden with white head. Aroma is pretty impressive. It is a whole bouquet of citrus and flowers. Taste is slightly bitter, but not too much so. Generally well-blanaced. Not much sweetness. Medium-light bodied. Pretty tasty. One of the better Texas beers that I have had so far.

Location: 12 oz cans from Central Market, 9/9/13

Aroma: The nose is light grassy hops, some grains, crystal malts, and herbal notes
Appearance: It pours an unclear gold-orange color with a frothy white heads and sticky lacing
Flavor: The hops come through more in the flavor, it is lightly sweet and medium bitter
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a nice, clean feel, soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid APA. It isn't a standout in the style, but it is quite quaffable. This is a perfectly acceptable canned offering.

Can shared at Bruce’s 30th Birthday Bash - CBC Clerkenwell, London. Thanks to The Peter! Pours clear gold with a fine, white cream head. Crystal malts abound in the nose along with some pine. Light dryness here, some toasty bread, mellow pine bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Decent resinous pine on the finish with toasty bread and light grass. Decent overall.

Can thanks to my Secret Santa Michael. Pours a clear deep orange gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of grassy hops with backing earthy grain and hay. Flavor starts with grassy hops that last throughout with backing notes of earthy grains and just a hint of bitter pine.

On tap at Monsters of Beer 2011. Pours a cloudy orange with medium off white head leavin spotty lacing. The aroma is a citrus hop and honey. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet hop and light dry finish. A decent pale ale from Hops and Grain.
