Belgian-style strong golden. This Belgian inspired ale is pure evil! The result of an easy drinkability despite being nearly 8% in alcohol. Gargamel, cast a spell of delicious deception. 31 IBU.

Hazy golden coloured body with a thin, light white head. Aroma of yeast, pale malt, wheat, coriander seed and curacao with a hint of sugars and oranges (full). Medium to Full-bodied; Strong yeastie flavour at first with a good maltiness, some light sweetness and a mild grassy and herbal note that finishes off nicely. Aftertaste shows some yeast and wheat with a little oranges and curacao with a bit of caramel. Overall, a nice and full-flavoured and textured belgie with good sugars and a nice complexity. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virgina 01-August-2012 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Upstate New York on 23-December-2012.

Pours pale gold with a small white head. Not much of any aroma, a little sweet malt; not much at all. The flavor is lightly sweet, not much to it. Next.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap ($6): Pours a golden colour with a white head. Aroma is frutiiness. Taste is much the same. I did not think that this was very good. The taste was a bit off. It was kind of on the sweet side and was not as dry as I like my Belgians. Usually, I can tell if I like a Belgian by the first sip and the first sip here was not to my liking. Usually, I like Devil’s Backbone, but in this beer, I think they dropped the ball.

Corn and lemongrass nose. Clear yellow, no head. Malty with banana accents and a grainy finish. Lemongrass present. Alcohol noticeable. Not a lot of Belgian character

Draft as Devil’s Backbone Azreal. Poured a hazy golden color with a tiny white head. Aroma was mellow fruit notes, with a touch of spice. Flavor was, well - a bit on the bland side, but the beer may have simply been too cold. Notes of candi sugar and spices began to came out.
