Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home after wiping my cat’s butt which let me tell you is a great way to spend a Tuesday night. I had to try this. Appearance is amber with a moderate off white head. Aroma is hoppy with light spice, smells pretty good. Taste is bitter, mango notes, rye as well, overall pretty good stuff.

Hazy deep copper coloured body with a thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of alcohol, oatmeal, rye, grain, grapefruit and citrus-based hops with a relatively pungent bite, mostly coming from hops. Medium-bodied; Deep earthy and robust rye flavoured malt right up front with a noticeable, but relatively light hoppiness coupled with a faint sweetness of fruit at the finish. Aftertaste focuses clearly more on the malt than any hop flavours, but the balance is a bit off, especially for the style. Overall, a decent IPA with rye grain, but a bit unbalanced throughout, and not enough hoppiness and sugars for this to be considered good/great. I sampled this crazy big twenty-four ounce can purchased from Whole Foods in Clarendon (Arlington), Virginia on 24-December-2014 for US$8,99 sampled at home in Washington on 29-May-2015.

Big 32oz can I picked up at Westover, pours a lightly murky orange with lots of frothy, white head. Nose is exactly what you are looking for, big sticky pine, orange, grapefruit, some mild malt notes and pepper notes, a little honey. Flavor is the same, aggressive but also balanced, the bitter hop bite is first, bright orange and grapefruit, the honey maltiness is next, sweet but not cloying, the pine and soapy notes finish it off. Sticky, full bodied finish.

Location: Draft at Revolution, 2/18/15
Aroma: The aroma is citrus hops, rye bread, and a bit of herbal hops
Appearance: It pours a slightly cloudy orange color with a small off-white head
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, leaning hop bitter, with a good rye balance
Palate: The body is medium, with average carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a good, solid Rye IPA. Definitely one I enjoyed drinking, but not one I would consider a standout.
