The most approachable of our ales, Brawler is malt forward and delicately hopped for a knockout flavor. Its smooth character, hints of caramel and toast, and remarkable drinkability define this ruby colored brew as a true session ale. Perfect for when you want to go a few rounds.

Dark almost black pour. Barley mouth feel. Little to no finish. It’s decent, but not great. Rated 4/18/10

Bottle from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours a deep red with a dusting of a head. Light caramel in the nose-- maybe a bit of maple too... a bitter Lipton teabag flavor with some fizz and some hint of grass. Um... not bad, not something I’d seek out.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a slightly hazy purplish brown color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of chocolate, caramel and nuts. Taste is very similar, but with some bitter hop notes and faint fruits as well. Thin-medium bodied. Decent.

Bottle. Pours a brown that lets a lot of light through and has a thin khaki head. Aromas are mild (sorry, couldn’t help it), but have a lot of light earthiness and nutiness. Flavor is fine and reflects the nose fairly accurately, but comes off as a little washed out. Still, this is a pretty good session...

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark ruby brown color with a huge beige head. The aroma was lightly sweet and malty. The flavor was lightly tangy and had a malty, fruity, nutty and roasty elements. The mouthfeel was nicely smooth. Decent.

12 oz bottle. Yards brawler S5L3F3T5O12 Mild yeasty smell when you first pop the lid. Darker than pale yellow. In glass aroma is just clean. Fine visible carbonation. Good friendly initial taste impressions. Nice and easy; rather enjoyable. Repeatable and easy going. Fine overall impressions. Creamy texture. Continues to look appetizing in the glass. My preferred pugilist.

One of the better light colored ales using nitro for that thick creamy Guinness like body and head. It has enough hop presence to show up through the creaminess. Unfortunately, I don't care much for those smooth creamy beers - I prefer an assertive bite.
