16oz can, courtesy of the greatest Secret Santa of all time, has no discernable appearance as it's still in the tall towering can. The modest aroma offers up classic apple and pear like fruity esters as well as a thin sense of corn flakes and booze. Proper light weight Malt Liquor, this. The taste delivers the same with overly sweet ripe apple, pear and fig esteriness. To midway just a sliver of booze is noted as murmurs of sweet corn join the fruity ester pain parade. This really needs more boost to allow for an alcohol sting and burn to balance all of the sweetness. All in all, if you're in the mood this will do.

OK so the alias in RB database says the Category 5 can is just regular Hurricane but is somehow distinct from another beer i've rated listed as hurricane malt liquor. so that's weird. And for real I expected this to be just awful. And to be fair its not good but its surpisingly drinkable. It tastes quite grainy, mainly corn, some actual malt flavor, fusels are pretty mild but definitely there as a weak solventy kind of thing. Weird acetone breath feelings comes in after I swallow. Very low bitterness, just enough to balance so its not sickly sweet, but at 5.8 ABV it doesn't have a lot of sugars - I wouldn't call it semi-dry, but its almost there. I've said too much already about a not interesting beer. Let's just say you can probably stomach this if you needed to.

I looked around one day on my RB account and found I’ve rated a crap load of malt liquors. Did I fall and hit my my head? Today I have a 40 of Hurricane, found it at a sketchy liquor store. My lucky day. A glass bottle and a screw top, just as it should be, along with the bag it came home in. No real discernible scent, smells like beer to me. A drink, now, fermented corn, straw, aluminum and a slow ride to hell. It falls maybe in the middle of beer-tasting malt liquors for me.

The appearance was a heavy burnt yellow color with no head or lace and yes, I understand the style isn’t supposed to have any head or lace, but here’s the rest: the aroma had some super sweet corn and breadiness, and then sugar cane.
The flavor was just plain sweet with a long sweet semi-boozy aftertaste. Finish was cloyingly sweet.
The palate was medium bodied with not much sipping or sessionable qualities about it. Carbonation felt okay. ABV felt fine.
Overall, super hard for me to honestly rate since I’m not a fan of the style and well, rating is more based on observations.

Can near the register for $1, figured up my malt liquor ticks but alas became more complicated. Black can says Category 5 all over it so I assume it’s new with slightly different abv than original hurricane. Dull pissy yellow pour. Nose is cardboard and sour malt. Tastes of leaves, malt, damp carpet. Not pleasant.

Bottle shared at the Cotteridge convention, 24/01/2015. Many thanks to the Malt liquor-ticka Leighton of this fine example of ’session malt liquor’. Very pale yellow yellow coloured pour with a hlo of white head. . Aroma is very clena, bit of corn, not muich else, Flavour is composed of stale grains, papery, not much to it. Palate is grainy, moderate to low carbonation. Meh.

Can shared at the Cotteridge Convention 2015. You’re welcome, friends! Pours clear - crystal clear! - pale yellow with a nice, creamy white head. The aroma holds sugary white bread, corn and freshly milled grains. Medium sweet flavor with sugary white bread, faint hay bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with further white bread, delicate white sugar, pale grains. Tasty malt liquor. Excellent drinkability for the style.

Low boost ML split at Cotts, thanks to LKS, 24/01/15. Clear pale golden with a moderate off white head. Nose is sweet tunes all round, candy, grain, straw. Taste comprises caramel, sweet sugary lickings, candy bar, soft bread. cereal, corn on the cob without the butterbomb. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Lacks boost but not a bad Licker Ticker.

25 Oz can shared by Enniskillen. Nose is sweet sugary bubblegum. Clear gold with a medium white head. Flavor is lightly sweet and bubblegum.
