Poured from what I believe is a 2014 bottle. Aroma is malt and coffee forward. Lots of chocolate and roast with quite a bit of espresso notes. Some light nuttiness and hints of dark fruit and caramel. Hints of alcohol. Pours jet black with a medium large, thick creamy, dark mocha head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers on the edges. No lacing and moderately long legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with moderately strong chocolate notes and lighter caramel and toffee. Moderate roast notes with quite a bit of espresso. Light fruity notes and a bit of alcohol spice. Moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice espresso stout. I thought I had already rated this or I wouldn't have sat on it as long as I did, but I am impressed with how the espresso held up.

Tasting at Matt’s
Black color with brown head. Deep coffee aroma, intriguing. Smooth mouthfeel, lean dark malt flavor, delicate coffee complement, a bit roasty, nutty, with mild ashy feeling in the final.
If you like lean, not overly sweet and thick Imperial Stout, this is excellent.

Dark brown. Thin medium brown head. Has a whole lot of coffee on the nose, with some chocolate. On the palate, soft with a little bit of sweetness. Nice milk chocolate, and then the espresso beans kick in. They lend a strong coffee note, almost vegetal, and again sweet chocolate. A touch of alcohol in the finish, too. Not super complex, but all the notes it hits are good ones.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of espresso upfront, followed by roasted malt, and even more coffee. Flavour is rich, with loads of espresso upfront, followed by rich roasted malt. The coffee sure is pristine and complex. Wonderful stuff.

Bottle bought in San Diego 3 weeks ago. Black with a tan head. Quite a lot of espresso both in the aroma and taste. Also dark chocolate and molasses. The body was almost full and the finish long. A nice one.

Poured from the tap (2016 version). Pitch black with tan head. Aroma is very coffee forward. Taste blends the coffee with nice dark chocolate and notes of mild ash throughout.
