A robust golden ale, refreshingly hoppy with bittersweet fruity aromas, Piston Broke is a blend of Goldings and Cascade hops that never fails, whatever the weather.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 30/09/12. Clear golden with a small white head that soon thins. Fruit on the nose and some light hop tones, not a huge aroma. Taste follows, hints of tropical fruit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter finish. The classic 6-3-6-3-12 formation says it all. Dribkable and whelming!

50cl bottle from a range of local beers in the village shop in Upavon, Wilts. A bright amber pour with a ring of white head; floral aroma, perhaps elderflower; soft and gently bitter in the mouth with a light berry fruitiness and then a prickly bitterness before a clean refreshing finish. A light, subtle, beer - very English is style.

Lunch-time hand pulled pint in โThe White Hartโ, Shifnal on 20th June 2012. Light amber body with a creamy off-white head that produced some good lacing. Weak flavours from the start, more malts than hops in my opinion and not a lot of maltiness either: aroma was only slight hop/malt/yeast esters, the taste just a hint of beery ingredients. Leaning towards boring!

Half, cask at the City Arms in Manchester. Clear amber body. Off-white head that dissipates quickly. Fragile lacing. Malt-fruity nose. Caramel malts in flavour supported by a fruity twist. Mild and dry bitterness to the finish. Rather well bodied. Above the average level. My last drink in Manchester on this trip โ Leeds next. 08.07.2012.
