Bottle. Very, dark brown. Not hazy, but so dark can’t see through it. Very slight head. Some lace. Aroma is burnt toast but weak. Taste, also weak but some burnt coffee notes and not actually too bad.

6 oz. pour as part of a flight at Three Casks, Nashville airport. Root beer brown w/nice sparkle, nitro-looking cap of head w/excellent retention & light lacing. Aroma is subtle roasted malt. Taste strong roasted malt, toffee, chocolate, hints of dark fruit. Smooth texture, soft carbonation.

12 oz. bottle from Fresh Market in Brentwood, TN. Pours a clear dark mahogany color with a creamy beige head and great retention. Great lacing. Dark roasted molasses aroma. Roasted nuts and malt and molasses flavor. Medium-heavy body and creamy mouthfeel. Drying finish. Almost tastes like a brown ale.

On tap at Blackstone, pours a dark brown with a reddish tinge and medium beige head. Aroma reveals toasted malt upfront, with a hint of cocoa. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted malt, a hint of cocoa and even lighter roast. Nicely balanced, with a fairly dry finish. Nice one.

Good porter, or maybe a good-enough porter, touching all the bases for the style without really excelling at any of them. Chocolate notes mesh with a nice roasty backbone, slight cherry notes melding with java undertones and a semisweet cocoa finish. Texture is good, and the nose features strong dark roast java and chocolate. Not bad.

Bottle. Cherry, chocolate malt, and light straw aroma. Dark chestnut brown with minimal head. Moderately sweet light cherry, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Okay body - light acidic finish. Fruity and pleasant. Think I have yet to disagree with Michael Jackson.
