Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August!
Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

A surprisingly good hefeweizen from a brewpub that had no other beers not in a lager category. Citrus and banana nose. Cloudy orange, but lacks sediment. Sweet wheat flavor followed by sour citrus. Well done.

On draught at the brewpub, served in a gold-rimmed Weizen glass. Hazy dark amber/golden color with a thick and fluffy off-white head. Thin and sticky lacing. Aroma of yeast and bananas. Medium-bodied and slick with flavors of wheat, banana and yeast. The finish is clean but kind of watery, with wheat and a bit of spice aftertaste. Above average overall, and honestly better than I was expecting.

Sampled draught at Gordon Biersch, Burbank.
Cloudy yellow. Estery banana aroma. Sweet, soft and aromatic. Light bodied with loads of cloves. Really good real hefeweizen, even if it might lack complexity.

Las Vegas airport (Draught): Cloudy yellow. Aroma of clove-like phenols. Some citrus. Strongly phenolic flavor with well integrated hoppy finish. Lingering banana notes. At first a nice authentic hefe but the phenols are really over-done here, approaching band-aid flavors. Too much of a good thing, distracting, borderline unpleasant.
