From tap at NOLA Brewing, New Orleans. Fairly malty IPA with caramel, toasted malt, and soft herbal hops. Hints of fruits and pine. Pretty sweet with a medium bitterness. Body is medium. Unexpectedly malt-forward for an IPA.

On tap at Nola, pours an opaque dark orange with a small white head. Aroma has a weird earthy, armpit-y hop character and bready malt. Flavour has some issues, with a strange earthy hop character, floral soapiness… ugh. Too floral and just not a nice hop expression. Not good.

Can at Emporium NOLA. Pours a gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has pine and citrus rind with some grain and light resin underlying. Flavor combines pine and light citrus rind with a touch of grass and a light grain backbone.

Can Liz brought from Vin Carre. Pours orange tinged gold with a creamy white head. Aroma suggests orange citrus with light malt support. Med body. Flavor is fairly dry, at least moderately bitter, and definitely has orange citrus aspects. Decent IPA.

Got this 16 oz can from the Cellar in adjacent Odessa TX. End of the session IPA, it cuts through the murk. My Great Heights snifter for this one, I see a opaque, dark yellow liquid finished by a long lasting, creamy white head. Ah, nice nose, piney, grassy and a promise of citrus. The drink is old-school, straightforward IPA. Lemon, pine cones, some maltiness and a bit of honey sweetness, where did that come from? I can appreciate it all.

Surprised at how half-assed this IPA comes across, considering how many excellent example of the style NOLA's put forth. Utter lack of hops on the nose is unforgivable; the aroma is wort and caramel, with nary a trace of citrus or pine or dank to be found. Taste gives up mild pine and caramel backed up by grapefruit, candied orange zest, and yeast. Finishes bitter, but not in an endearing, old-school West Coast sort of way. Not good.

Some pine and some light citrus. Ok, but subdued hops like you have a weight on your ankle. Bitter finish. Tall can thanks to Maigua.

Tap at taproom. Clear orange color, small steady white head and lace. Light citrus in the nose. Medium-bodied. Some roped fruityness, some citrus. Quite watery and easy for its abv.
